In the mid-1300s, Europe was a mess because of:
The Black Death (plague), killed half of the population in 5 years
Ice age killed crops, series of war
First contact with the world (America)
Extracted minerals and obtained wealth and power, and dominated some parts of the world?
Transfer of people (slave trade) to Caribbean, South America. Created a different political economy.
1648: the peace of west philia treaty by England, France, Spain, Dutch. Key political decisions in the
world were made by white men.
West philia sovereignty. Meaning countries are free to do what they wanted within their
countries, without outside interference.
So rights and freedom of human and animals were neglected.
