Parents social class/socio-economic status, linking to kids status. Poor people commit crimes because they need to obtain the things that crime can provide. If you need to eat, you steal food if you can"t afford it. Lower classes are angry or frustrated with their status in society, and act out because of it. Lower classes don"t have the social/coping skills to deal with frustrations, therefore are more likely to engage in offending. Ellis makes link in reading between low social status and high levels of offending. Negative relationship, when one thing goes up, the other goes down. Agnu and brazina argue that how delinquency and social class are related depends on the type of data. Overall it is believed that poor people commit more crime.
