Moral claims don"t function the way other things in the world function. 3 qualities (that any good analysis has to satisfy): (1) intellectual disagreement: moral claims can be in disagreement with one another. (2) magnetism: developed a stronger tendency than otherwise would have had - a sincere belief that lying is wrong gives you some motivation to not lie. (3) not veri able solely by science: you can"t nd out what"s good by asking people what"s good. A good analysis of good cannot be gured out by scienti c methods. Oh, it"s warm in here - stating a fact but also want something done for it turn the ac on! Emotive meaning that x is good: coming to class on time is good! . Ethical disagreements involve judgment of other person"s ethical beliefs. The degree to which we disagree is greater.
