Document Summary

Friends & strangers probably do to at least not human. We answer yes to both #2 and #3. The futurity problem: object 1: temporal location (why care about people in other times?) We care less about the past because: past people matter less (don"t expect satisfaction, but future people matter more. You care more about that: object 2: ignorance. We don"t know anything about them: must use info and most plausible scenario to know what to do for the future. Ignorance of needs and wants of future: because they"re human, they have basic needs (food, water, shelter, objection 3: contingencies. Will future people even exist? why should humanity continue? e. g. you have 2 promises; one will be one in future, you choose to break future or parents want kid but will suffer, so don"t have any. Intrinsic value of human relationshio: human projects (e. g. democracy, art/science, math) *human life is also nice and pleasurable (utility)
