Hazardous materials used to be places in nuisance areas (e. g. : wetland bc we didn"t like them) We still produce a lot of waste, placed in wrong place > potentially significant and long lasting effects on the environment. Waste dump sites were placed in wrong areas for that particular land use bc we didn"t appreciate the landscape form and structure. Water moves from high pressure/energy to low (high hydraulic head to lower) Water wells shows where the groundwater table is and how high/low it is. Imp. resource bc sustainable and create food services for us, vegetation (prevents erosion/water quality impacts on rivers) Soil profile; breaks down the soil to different layers. Bottom; parent materials, present before soil was formed. Not flat areas; different types of soils set up depending on how water flows in that system. Soil is a function of hydrology, water flow takes soil particles from one place to another.
