Pinnae: the part of the ear that can be seen from the outside, it gathers in sound. If we didn t have pinnae, it would be hard to know where the sound came from. Auditory canal: 2 3cm space that separate the outside world and the workings of the inner ear. This distance also protects our inner ear from the cold. Our ear vibrates in symphony to certain kinds of frequencies and the canal helps amplify the sound. Ear drum (tympanic membrane): very thin membrane that vibrates to sound. You can get a broken ear drum (like from a really loud sound, something being poked into the ear, but the most common way is with q- When you put a small hole in your ear drum, it will heal up eventually (form scar tissue), but it won t be as good as before.
