Document Summary

When we are trying to learn and remember. When we remember things we do not realize we remember. Our memories are often a distorted view of reality. Sensory memory - the immediate, initial recording of sensory information in the memory system. Short-term memory - activated memory that holds a few items briefly, such as the seven digits of a phone number while dialing, before the information is stored of forgotten. Long-term memory - the relatively permanent and limitless storehouse of the memory system. The process that occurs in making memories happen. We can have problems when we don"t remember things. The information may not have been encoded properly. Could have trouble remembering information if it has gotten lost in storage. How much do we retain? (how long do you retain information in short-term memory?) Short-term memory is limited not only in terms of the length, but also in how much we can hold there.
