PSYCH339 Lecture 8: Lecture 8
Document Summary
The more applicants there are, the more likely you are to select the best candidate. If you have six people to choose from (1/6 = 0. 17) if you have 2 people to choose form (1/2 = 0. 5) If you want a selection ratio of 16%, then you would hire people from the top (the one with the highest score) So what is the average score of the selected people. The higher the selection ratio, the more people we have to hire which means it will bring the average down. If you have to hire a larger people that apply, you have to be more selective and the predictor line will move to the left (hire people with lower scores) Accuracy = (correct hire) + (correct reject) / (correct hire) + (correct reject) Correct hire: above cutoff and they perform well. Incorrect hire: did not hire because they did not perform well.
