Leisure conceptualized as the time we are not working or fulfilling the basic needs for existence: problem is leisure and free time are different things to most people, says nothing about the quality of time. Intrinsic motivation: person is moved from within to participate: experience results in personal feelings of satisfaction, enjoyment and gratification, activity is desired for its own sake. Some intrinsic motivation must take place for activity to be true leisure. Perceived freedom: individual"s ability to choose the activity or experience they wish to participate in. Free from other obligations and has the freedom to act without control from others. Sense of autonomy, free to choose whether to continue or discontinue without repercussions or external pressure. Recreation: activity people engage in during their free time, that people enjoy, and people recognize as having socially redeeming values. Intended for the good of people and is organized and supported to produce positive results.
