Acts of power were often themselves a form of teaching. Jesus touches the lepers in order to heal them; thus he crossed sacred boundaries: eating and the kingdom of god: Providing food is one of the hallmarks of the messiah. Eating, esp. with outsiders, is for jesus the most important expressions of the kingdom. Feeding of 5000 (5 loaves of bread + 2 fish) = 7 which indicates wholeness and completeness in the bible. He also eats with outsiders (tax collectors, sinners, prostitutes etc. but then also with pharisees and rich folk) A meal (the last supper) marks and anticipates also the greatest enactment of the kingdom of god, namely jesus" death: key terms and concepts: There were two main categories of jesus" miracles: those that affected people his healings and those of a controlled nature such as walking on water.
