Week 6: friendships, aggression and resiliency during childhood. Altruism and empathy: altruism: not thinking about yourself, thinking about others, helping, lending a hand, doing things for the sake of others (sellessly) what parents are teaching their kids. Cogniive: test out theories of mind, how they understand others, how they think about others. As the types of play evolves children were relaing diferently to their play. 4 styles of play: nonsocial play (onlooker play) Coninue throughout early childhood not a big concern if someone"s kids play by themselves. Only be concerned if it was a awkward type of play. Decline in middle childhood: parallel play. 12 months 18 months (above 1) starts playing side by side with each other, with a similar toy or acivity, but not inluencing the other person"s play independently: associaive play. Brief and spontaneous interacion: cooperaive play. When there is a reciprocal, cooperaive, symbolic piece to it.
