Highly opportunistic (a particular group to come into power, inmates who have grudges to go after guards etc) Self-preservation (those who don"t want to be part of the riot, align themselves with friends and groups that are safe) Res/entrapment (#1 concern for inmates) (jackson - 5 inmates had smoke inhalation) Drugs, ghting (inmates will get drunk or high, ghting amongst inmates) Inmates will turn themselves over to authority. Developed by prison authorities and often quickly are taken by the inmates. Getting out of harms way - self preservation.
