Document Summary

Do not contain some genes that are imported from nucleus. Nucleolus: not really an organelle, just a region inside the nucleus. Golgi: packages protein for transport (stack of pancakes) Rough/smooth er: site of protein synthesis (ribosomes partners with er), transports and packages proteins as well. Microtubules: not an organelle but important for cytoskeleton. Vacuole: storage organelle (especially large for plant cells) Cell theory: all living things are composed of one or more cells, cells are the basic building block of life, all cells arise from preexisting cells. Black background (usually) looking at multiple wavelengths. Gfp absorbs blue light and emits green light. Confocal takes optical slices i. e. only takes one plane of light on the sample. Not good for low fluorescent signal (result in artifacts) Artifacts: something observed in a scientific investigation or experiment that is not naturally present but occurs as a result of the preparative or investigative procedure. Resolution limited by electron beam (0. 2 nm)
