Document Summary

Vascular pole of the renal corpuscle) Uriniferous tubule of kidney (cont"d) Lecture 32 urinary ii, nov 17, 2014 (dr. roskelley) Juxtaglomerular apparatus: (adjacent to the capillary of glomerulus at the. High volume urine (diuretic state) stimulates cells of the macula densa which leads to gap junction- mediated signaling to juxtaglomerular cells. Juxtaglomerular cells are modified pericytes of glomerular arterioles that secrete renin upon stimulation by the macula densa. Renin stimulates angiotensin cascade leading to: Increase in aldosterone (stimulates nacl pumps in the ascending loops of the distal tubule) The result is a low volume/concentrated urine (=anti- diuretic state) Collecting tubules: (span from cortex to medulla) Note that collecting tubules are not part of nephron. Simple cuboidal to low columnar epithelium. Normally are water impermeable which results in high volume of dilute urine (=diuretic state) Drain to renal "renal pelvis", which ultimately funnels to the ureter.
