Perceptions can range from immediate impressions to fully-developed theories about what is happening and what it means". The situation: time, w ork setting, social setting. The perceiver: attitudes, motives, interests, experience, expectations. The target: novelty, motion, sounds, size, background, p r oximity. When we obser ve behaviour we attribute meaning to it. Distinctiveness (how often does the person do this in other situations?) Consensus (how often do other people do this in similar situations?) Consistency (how often did the person do this in the past?) My sales people are lazy and not trying hard enough to get sales . Our competitor has introduced an innovative and less expensive product .
