Genre is within all films in all its stages under its type of film. It is part of how a film is produced, structured, advertisedthen there is how we see the genre. We think in genre, it is embedded into many of the things we do in daily life. Genre serves this social position in our society. There is a comforting aspect within genre as it gives the audience the sense of things are being resolved/ know what to expect/what they will be getting. The western: wilderness and situation almost every film we see will have the aspects of several genres/blending of genres. More than was back in the classical period. Conventions - ex. lighting, scenes, setting, stock scenes that we see. Syntax - the way it is all put together.
