Affects explicit memory (implicit memory is often saved) Retrograde: ability to remember information from before injury impaired. Anterograde: ability to remember information after the injury impaired. Alzheimer"s: 60-80% case of dementia, progressive, symptoms: Difficulty speaking, walking, and swallowing: plaques and tangles (postmortem diagnosis) Tangles: proteins necessary for axon growth not properly regulated.
