PSYC 301 Lecture Notes - Lecture 29: Psychopathic Personality Inventory, Psychopathy, Factor Analysis
Document Summary
Cleckly came up with the conception of psychopathy but it wasn"t concrete. Robert hare adapted it from cleckley in a more forensic sense. Key feature of psychopathy is lying and a high sense of self worth. A personality inventory is probably not going to be sufficient because individuals with psychopathy have a high feeling of self worth and are pathological liars. You pay money to do a workshop and learn to administer it. Formalized interview process and another part of it is to actually look at real records (criminal history, case file, etc. : this is a forensic set of criteria rather than dsm (isn"t psychological) Problem: it mixes up its language: asks question about behaviour, personality, and criminal history. Biomarkers for psychopathy: there are some we will talk about, physiology ones are the ones that are mostly used in a concrete way (i. e. thickness of brain material) That"s how the statistical analysis clusters them all together.
