Plasticity able to re-wire brain to learn things easily/effectively (language development) Once synaptic pruning occurs, hard for them to learn things as fast as before. This process frees" up space for us to process other things. Overload of synapses happens when we are younger (overabundance of synapses synesthesia you perceive sensation, but you actually perceive more than one sensation hear + smell)
