Document Summary

Limited screen time except for video chat. Parents should engage with child, shared use. Focus on the high quality educational programs. Media changes constantly so babies"s application of it change constantly it too. Times of media use increase with ages. Can"t learn as well from face-to-face interaction. More difficult to imitate from screen media. They can also imitate from pictures on the book. Didn"t do any better than the control group. Having a tv on changes the parents-children interaction. Parents interact more, more quality interaction with children with tv off. More tv watching and worse school performance. Ex: program that isn"t intended to educate children. Better vocab, better test performance, better prepared for schools. Higher ses: impact more by tv, worse performance. Lower ses: already low so can"t get much lower. More time spend on video games = worse performance. Half the kids who got the video game did worse. Action games that requires your attention, high-paced.
