In the 16th century, luther is firming it up: some six centuries after, we get the 2nd vatican council, the sermon may have been in the vernacular, but the mass was in latin, where the mystery happens, all of a sudden, church goes from something that you experience from something that you experience and understand, greater sense of wanting to be there.
