Prof. guppy will always post powerpoint presentations on canvas before the lecture. It is recommended - but not expected - that readings are done before class. There are no office hours per se; appointments can be set up via email ( neil. guppy@ubc. ca ) There is no need for an iclicker, and textbooks do not need to be brought to class. Students must be respectful in names, speech, and use of electronics. The average grade will be around 70% for the class. General first year classes have an average that ranges from 67-71%. Class participation: 15% (given by tas based on attendance and contribution to discussion groups) *october and december exams will have multiple choice questions, short answer questions, and one reflective essay question) In essence, sociology is the study of the relationship between individuals and society.
