Gender ideology: ideas (attitudes) of masculinity/femininity held to be valid in a given society as a specific historical time. Intersexed: unrecognizable female or male genitalia or born with both. Gender identity: persons subjective experience and understanding of their gender. Liberal: identifies women as a class entitled to rights as women and elimination of sexism, misogyny, and patriarchy. Issues: pay equity, access to education, occupation, legal rights. Criticism: focuses on white, middle class women, ignores race, class sexuality, ability. Essentialist: looks at difference between the way women and men think, argues for equality. Women"s morality and maternal thinking involve social norms that are natural to them and this morality is negatively valued in a patriarchal society. Patriarchy: domination and favouring male roles, views, and ideas. Socialist: examines struggles faced by, and resources available to working class women.
