Involves appreciation and value of differences; opposite of rejection, denigration, or tolerance of evil. Equity: making sure everyone is modified to be exactly equal. Native-language emphasis students" native language is used for most of the day and english is taught as a separate subject. Sheltered-english approach students are taught all of their subjects in. Scaffolding cognitive approach in which the teacher provides temporary structure or support while students are learning a task; support is gradually removed as the students are able to perform the task. Mnemonics (e. g. , rhymes or images that aid memory) and reciprocal learning (student observes teacher use a learning strategy and then tries it themselves). Challenge students to critically think and apply themselves. Too often educators underestimate the capacities of students with exceptionalities and under-teach them. Involvement engage students in extended conversations, in which they use complex linguistic structures.
