Community practice must be situated in the historical and social contexts that define the lived experience of the community. Community is about shared helping, shared support and shared resources; in the context of marginalization, this becomes a political act. Developing inclusive healthy communities: political action can create a sense of belonging /community by including members in decision making, communities must be inclusive and accepting. Ability to welcome is critical: deficit model and blaming, sustain positive connections sources of strength ( safe housing, schools, etc. ) or faulty connections( policing, tainted water, etc. ) Each community needs all forms of capital and relies on different forms of capital to maintain itself and grow stronger. Daniels(2002): capital as the stock of capacity to do something . They also need the interaction of these forms of capital. Social capital: system of community norms, that build trust.
