Power: ability to get things done the way you want through someone else. Positon power: based on a manager"s power in the business. Legitimate power: right to control others in lower positions. Personal power: one person"s ability to bring leadership skills to the table. Expert power: ability to influence others based on skills. Referent power: ability to influence others because they look up to you. Leader has complete control of authority and information. Laissez-faire style: little concern for a specific task. Democratic style: getting everything done as well as sharing information and encouragement of participation. A leader may need to adjust their leadership styled based on how prepared everyone else is. Delegating: low-task and low relationship style. (best in high readiness situations) Selling: high task and high relationship styles. (moderate readiness)
