Reading notes week 1 - may 2nd, 2017. Statistics is the basis of the global economy of the 21st century. Information revolution of the 20th century: statistical revolution of the 21st century. As you can see, the statistical revolution of the 21st century is the aftermath of how we make sense of the information revolution. Statistics way of reasoning + tools/methods to help us understand the world. Data analytics statistical analysis of large amounts of data in order to sift out key information used in corporate planning. Therefore, facebook started informing members what sites/ads their friends were going to so that they would be more likely to click on it as well. That way facebook could increase their ad revenue. Cutting edge: answers open-ended questions, goes above & beyond, ex: google translate doesn"t simply translate languages word for word, but analyzes official pre-existing translated documents in order to get the sentence structures/phrasing/expressions right.
