ANP 1105 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Bronchus, Anabolism, Trachea
Document Summary
Anatomy: the scientific study of morphology and the structure of body parts and their arrangements. Physiology: the function of body parts, what they do and how they do it. Both are related because functions depend on the structure of something. Digestion; a process where complex food products are broken down to simpler substances that can be absorbed and used by body cells. Excretion; removal of waste products from body. circulation; the movement of body fluids that contain many substances from one body area to another in a repetitive, circular route through hollow vessels. reproduction; formation of new individual offspring. The characteristics of life is related to all of the chemical and physical reactions in the body. Metabolic reactions is required to produce complex compounds out of simpler compounds. Metabolism: all chemical and physical processes taking place in the body. Catabolism: (breaking down) larger molecules are broken down into smaller ones.
