ANP 1106 Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: Sympathetic Nervous System, Anterior Ramus Of Spinal Nerve, Digestion
Document Summary
Stretch and tendon relexes, muscle spindles and tendon organs. Inborn (intrinsic, present at birth ) relex: rapid, predictable motor response to a simulus, unlearned, unpremeditated, involuntary , built in, prevent having to think about (ex. Posture, avoiding pain, controlling visceral aciviies: may (ex drop pot of splashed hot water) or may not (change in bp) be aware of relex response. Learned (acquired) relex: results from pracice/repeiion (driving a car) No clear disincion, inborn relexes can be modiied. Components of a relex arc: receptor, site of simulus, sensory neuron. Integraion centre: 1 (monosynapic) or more (polysynapic) links between 2 and 4, motor neuron, eferent impulse efector organ, efector, muscle iber/gland cell contracts/secretes. Sensory neuron (2) branches when it enters gray mater of spinal cord: one monosynapic link and one polysnapic link between sensory neuron and motor neurons, an interneuron has been added in one branch. No direct involvement of higher brain centres.
