Vestibule: the area between the teeth, lips and cheeks. Oral cavity: proper lies within the teeth & gum. Labial frenulum: attaches to the center of the upper lip and between the under two front teeth [superior/inferior] Hard palate: palatine bones and formed by two maxillae bones. Soft palate: fold made mostly by skeletal muscle close nasopharynx when swallowing. Intrinsic muscles: change the shape of the tongue. Lingual frenulum: under tongue similar to the ones under the center teeth. Dorsal part of the tongue: glands secreting digestive enzyme lingual lipase. Terminal sulcus: divides body: 2/3 of anterior of tongue and root: 1/3 of posterior of tongue. Epiglottis: a flap of cartilage at the root of the tongue. Palatine/lingual tonsil: protect from harmful microorganisms from entering the body.
