Heterosexual 1892: explain the changes in courtship and gender roles, all of that stuff. Not equated with normal sex but perversions: one person"s normal is other person"s deviance, heterosexuality is not about normalcy, what we do. 1893: krafft-ebing (k-e) psychopathia sexualis: determines what it means to have sex. Heterosexuality linked to reproduction: nothing to do with sex or pleasure. Men and women experienced eroticism differently: women having babies, extent of their erotic experience, serious problematic thing for things. Not that act but the character of the person: consider how it actually works. Medicalization of sex of any kind health: have good sex and have a stronger relationship. Reflected social, economic, political, legal contexts: ask us about relationships, don"t have dating until the 1930"s. Rethinking of place, relevance and relationships: time, place, date of dating. Endogamy: marrying within your cultural background. Exogamy: marrying outside your cultural group, done to prevent incest, expand genes.
