Reaction time: sprinters reaction to gun firing (what is happened in the brain and the muscles during that short time) Mental chronometry: the use of response time in perceptual-motor tasks to infer the content, duration, and temporal sequencing of cognitive operations, studied using the measuring of reaction time (rt) Interval between the presentation of a stimulus to the initiation of a response: reaction time: is the elapsed time between the presentation of a sensory stimulus and the subsequent behavioural response. How fast the thinker can execute the mental operations needed by the task at hand. The speed of processing is considered an index of processing efficiency.
