Document Summary
What is a motor program: pre determined sort of set of movements, a set of muscles commands that are structured before a movement sequence begins, this allows the sequence to be carried out uninfluenced by peripheral feedback. Gl- without visual feedback, but not very well, have to be structured, deafferent can make movements: startle: reaction time task- 177ms, if we startle them we get 77ms, this is pre- planned. Startle in a precue, four possible targets, which hand, or which direction, (in or out), ambitious direction, or no cue at all. All they are doing is measuring the reaction time of lifting your finger off of the button. With just the finger lift, 150ms, if you add stuff after, it gets a lot longer, because of the stuff you are going to have to do after wards. These more complex programs, involve more movements so it takes longer to load that program so the reaction time is longer.
