They can inspire research quesions, deine variables, and design a good study. Concepts/symbols : social sciences concepts, biophysical sciences symbols. Descripions outline characterisics of concept of interest, elaborate how it can be broken down. Relaional statements: connect variables together (e. g. tpb depends on intenion and behavioural control)
