APA 3325 Lecture Notes - Lecture 14: Maximum Force, Plyometrics, Medicine Ball
Document Summary
There is a trade off between power and velocity. When load is low the the velocity is high. Landing power: control of eccentric phase if theres a pause in the exercise it is not plyometric. If you are not able to decelerate the weight then you can injured yourself. Upper body plyometrics: needed for sports and activities that require rapid, powerful upper body movements, golf, baseball, softball, tennis, sprint swimming etc, examples, medicine ball throws, medicine ball catches, push up variations. If you use plyometrics you can increase your power more. You can do it from the knees and add weights for variation. You can make it harder by changing point of object : e. g. , doing the exercise in one leg. Distance of the drill: if you do longer distance then you will exert more power. High impacts exercise (high intensity) then the reps would be lower.
