In english clear distinction between culture and civilization; the two terms are never used for the same purpose. The german title is translated in one way only. (the german word kultur is translated as civilization while bildung is translated as culture) In arabic distinction between thaqaafah" culture and civilization tamaddan/xidhaara". The word culture often refers nowadays to the field of arts and literature as opposed to the fields of science, finance, etc. We say, for example: pop culture, the budget of culture, the cultural industry, etc. Just think of the difference between the philosophy of plato and, for example, the fiscal philosophy of the finance minister. What we are studying here is the word culture in its original and wide meaning that includes traditions, mythology, beliefs, ways of life, etc.
