Nearly a year later, in 1823, first major arabic press in cairo, then a decade later in beirut (american press of beirut) Ex: construction or warnings of so and so is being invaded etc. Egypt led the arabs in the field of the printed press. Napoleon introduced the first government newpaper in arabic in 1800 al. Tanbih (the alert) and mohamad ali established the second gov newspaper. First privately published arab newspaper was in aleppo in 1855 (mirror of the times) by rizcalla hassoun.
