We are in the middle of the sixth mass extinction to have ever occurred. Very important; equatorian environment because at the equator; we have large amounts f rainfall; highly productive zone. There is this large continental mass with a huge continental shelf sitting around it: they are sitting in one of the best lit, warmest part of the planet.
