Document Summary

Prokaryotes include two domains of life which are the bacteria and archaea. Archaea are more closely related to eukaryotes than bacteria. Started 3,500 million years ago up to first eukaryote that started 2100 million years ago so for almost 1 billion and a half the only thing living on this planet was single celled without a nucleus or bacteria. Humans are a freckle on the top, some other groups are far more important. One very important event occurred which was the first real massive mass extinction occurred and oxygen became quite important. O2 is the result of organic activity, life created oxygen into the atmosphere and when it became abundant life changed on this planet. Before this oxygen was considered as a toxic substance. Stromatolite: structures that contains very numerous layers of biofilms produced by bacteria accumulated over 1000 of years. Some still exist and are cyanobacteria and can fossilize quite well.
