Predarwinian and the natural sciences(400 bce - late 1800"s) 400 bce ~ 450ce: greek and roman ages( a thousand years, major philosopher dealing biological thought, make major contributions) 450 ~ 16th century: medieval ages(spent almost 1500 years, western europe and western civilization collapse, so not a lot biological thought)
