BIO 1300 Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Keratin, Microfilament, Blood Transfusion
Document Summary
Humans are naked apes, and that has led to pigmentation of the skin colour. Restricted to hot temps as they would lose water. Epidermis: where we have the cells producd here, these are the cells of the keratin, and it forms other cells, languerhuas cells immune properties, protects us, merkel cells receptor cells. Dermis: under the epidermis, two layers of the upper layer that is sp. It has these finger like projections that increase out abilitiy to touch. Associated to cappillaires as we tend to bleed if we reach this level. Patterns like skin folds like fingerprints: reticulum layer. Collagen is this proteination process that adds elastic/flexible. As we start to age we tend to lose it as well. Blood vessles provides nurtreints and oxygen and a role in thermal regulation. Blood is removed from the skin, so that they can heat up the core of the body. Glands: mammial skin is full of glands, sebacceous gland.
