Ecology is not environmentalism, although it can deal with conservation. Ecology is the scientific study of the distribution and abundance of species. The diversity of life is highest in tropical areas such as hawaii, northern climate is count in northern canada, and temperate climate is found in southern canada. Co2 concentrations across the world, this represents carbon influx into biomass, this alters the carbon cycle. Since today we have less trees (~3 trillion) is has accelerated the rate of climate change: disturbances have a dramatic effect at local scales, ex. Controlled fire know back invading species and encourage rapid grass growth while the trees with stand the fire: abiotic factors exert a pressure on species and distribution, ex. Fire, temperature, wind, etc: biotic factors (eg parasitism ) can also affect species" distribution and abundance, other factors include mutualism, competition, predation, etc. Interactions btwn species can be ve as well, ex.
