Non-infectious: a diseased state due to non-living causes. Nb: prions are considered proteins, so they are non-infectious: ex. Kreutzfeld jacobs disease is caused by prions and is non-infectious. Pathogen: any organism which has the ability to cause an infectious disease. Infection: state when a pathogen grows and multiplies in the host. An infection may or may not cause a disease - can have infection without disease (ex. carriers) Infection is not synonymous with disease - can have disease without infection.
