Doesn"t work because brain does not feel pain. Pain is in thin tissue surrounding skull. Contraction in muscles surrounding the skull (squishes skull) Pain is caused by vasodilation (increase in bloodflow, blood vessels are expanding in diameter) Squish surrounding tissues because they get larger. Converted into acetic acid (non toxic), you can become more or less susceptible to headaches. Acetaldehyde (worse poison than ethyl alcohol) typically worse symptoms. Pathway: ethyl alcohol (+enzyme alcohol dehydrogenase) acetaldehyde (+enzyme acetaldehyde dehydrogenase- some people don"t have that many of these enzymes for worse hangovers) acetic acid. Aging alcohol adds to the pain (burned on inside of barrel), occur as part of fermentation. Colour of drink can predict severity of hangover (presence of congeners) Some sauerkraut and fermented foods contain histamine. Some types of cheese contain tyramine (vaso-dilating again) Chocolate can trigger some headaches as well. Parts of molecules are identical and structurally similar. Hotdogs contain nitrites and other smoked meats.
