Safe delivery of nicotine: you can reduce the harm done by using cigarette alternatives. E-cigarette use is controversial: this was brought in as a way to quit smoking since there is no smoke involved, you aren"t burning things. It has become a grey area in government regulation: non-smokers begin to partake in this because they believe it isn"t harmful and it becomes a recreational thing. Health canada is very conservative: they have said not to use it and that it is not something that may be a good alternative. Yes: cigarette: carbon monoxide, polonium, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, combustion by products, particulates, and nicotine, e-cigarette: nicotine, carbonyl compounds, and glycols. Marketing is faster than science: each company has different heating technology, hundreds of flavors. Best indicator is clinical trials: a general test is not good enough, but we won"t see well-run ones for many years. Vaccines: you develop an immunity after illness and the incidence of colds decrease with age.
