Aspirin molecule is related to substances in the salix family of plants: willow, Knowledge was found in 1763 for ague (fever) Had a fever and was walking through a forest and tasted plants, tried willow bark and found it has a taste similar to quinine, figured it will cure fever. Supply was very limited, taking too much bark will kill the tree.
