Document Summary

Atopos: topos means place, atopos means the opposite. Something out of place or doesn"t fit it. thats the way socrates was being described as in the party. Apollodorus basically worships socrates, he compares everyone else to be worthless compared to socrates. As in in love or obsessed with socrates. Socrates feels out of place at the party as he differs from the others in the sense that hes more of a philosopher rather than someone whos interested in ideas. He doesn"t behave or dress or act like the others as well. Socrates says that his wisdom is not worth sharing, and its not something that can be shared easily, unlike agathon"s wisdom which he described as bright and ideal. The word eros means sexual love or desire, so it was very frowned upon to say it to someone such as a family member.
