Our field started with speech communication, in which we had a simple approach that modeled this model. Focused on the act of persuading, based off of 3 appeals: source credibility (ethos) This is a communicator"s attractiveness to the audience (trustworthiness, competency, status, sociability, dynamism) What makes us comfortable with the speaker is knowing they are one of us (when they appeal to the general public)
