Marshall mcluhan: believed that technologies are extensions of our physical and nervous system to increase power and speed. The wheel is a mere extension of our feet, the computer of the brain and electronic media as a whole, of our central nervous system. Is it a host of ever changing, ever developing interfaces, impacting the world around us. The uses and gratifications research model strives to circumscribe the plethora of needs satisfied by the media. Media are seen as fulfilling one of the three following roles: Broadcast media: radio, tv, recorded music, film, all have in common the electronic way through which they transmit their information. Print: books, newspapers, magazines, flyers, all use a physical support on which to distribute their content. Outdoor media: particularly in major cities, the billboard is the most prevalent form, aka out of home advertising, visible is sport stadiums, commercial buildings, bus shelter and public transportation vehicles and buildings.
