A competency-based approach is a process through which organizations are created and in turn shape and create events and meanings for the focus of organization"s communication. We live, work, and play in complex communication environment. The complexities of all org life and rapid increase in communication technologies place increasing demands on our individual communication abilities. Goal: develop knowledge, sensitivity, skill, and value competencies through an interaction of theory, practice, and analysis. Objectives: assess their personal development needs/ practice analysis capabilities. Information society: more and more jobs in communication deal with people and all of these require information. There"s a difference between information and knowledge. When looking at communication you have to know what is knowledgeable. Org excellence: it is a tool which we in communications to achieve org excellence. It is not something, which you can achieve overnight. Communication competency: when it comes to communication competency you have to look into different analysis to improve the communication competency.
